ACT official Myles Emery has had the experience of a lifetime after being selected as an official for the Laver Cup in Prague from September 22-24.  The Laver Cup pits six top European players against six counterparts from across the world in a team event.  The inaugural Laver Cup featured Roger Federer (SUI), Rafael Nadal (ESP), Alexander Zverev (GER) and Canberra’s own Nick Kyrgios (AUS).

Emery was pleased to get call up to be part of the event saying “I was lucky enough to be selected by Tennis Australia to attend the Laver Cup in Prague. The event showcased the worlds best players in this inaugural event. It was an incredible experiencing line umpiring on a black court, indoors and to a sold out crowd everyday”.

After the Laver Cup, Emery moved onto the Rakuten Japan Open, ATP event in Tokyo.  “This is my second time working at this event, it has a great atmosphere and vibe. Tokyo is an incredible city and they definitely know how to enjoy this event” Emery added.

Whether he is officiating internationally or at local Canberra events, Emery is passionate about his role in the sport. “I love officiating at all levels of the game from grassroots tennis through to officiating at some of the biggest international tournaments in the world. Tennis officiating is so unique in that it has virtually endless opportunities for anyone to pursue”.
