Twelve aspiring coaches from the ACT and across NSW have taken the first steps in the coaching pathway by completing the Community Coaching Course held in Canberra from July 3-5.

Tennis Australia Coach Development Coordinator, Sam Bradshaw delivered the 3 day course and was pleased with the outcome.

“The course had a great atmosphere, with participant’s upskilling themselves as assistant coaches and learning about the coaching philosophies behind ANZ Tennis Hot Shots”.

“We have built a great relationship with the coaches in the ACT and its great to see them supporting these courses, valuing professional development and the importance of upskilling their coaches”

The majority of time during the course was spent on-court with participants actively learning to deliver coaching sessions where players serve, rally and score using modified balls, racquets, nets and courts appropriate to the developmental needs of junior players.  Participants also learned the responsibilities of a coach, as well as how to successfully plan and deliver lessons.

Tennis Australia provide coaching courses and professional development workshops designed to continue to grow coaches’ knowledge in various aspects of tennis coaching.  Upcoming courses and workshops can be found here
