The last month has been a busy one for many ACT players with plenty of tournaments being held in Australia and overseas.

National Academy scholarship holders Kaitlin Staines and Lisa Mays travelled with an Australian tour to ITF junior events in Japan and Korea, along with coach, Todd Larkham.

Both performed well, Staines reaching a doubles final and a semi-final. As a result, Mays has seen her ranking significantly improve and Staines will be very close to cracking the world junior top 100.

Annerly Poulos also travelled overseas, representing Australia at the WTA Future Stars event in Singapore, featuring some of the best 14/u players from the Asia-Pacific. Poulos won her round robin section, but was defeated in the semi-finals. Upon returning home, she moved on to win the women’s singles at the 2016 Canberra Tennis Festival Bronze AMT.

In Canberra, local players Alison Bai and James Frawley had some good doubles results, with Frawley reaching the semi-finals of the Traralgon Pro Tour event and Bai making the doubles final of the Apis Canberra International.

The Bruce Cup was held in Albury, with 16 primary school players and 2 coaches attending from the ACT. The team gained plenty of match experience, finishing in 7th place after defeating Tasmania.
