Canberra Velocity will be back in action for round 2 of the Asia Pacific Tennis League tomorrow night at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre. The Women will be looking to build on their strong start to the 2014-15 campaign while the Men will be searching for their first win of the season.

The Velocity women will take on the UTS Lizards who were dominant in their opening round, taking a six rubbers to none win over the Sydney University Lions. The Lizards have established themselves as serious title contenders with Friday’s win even more impressive given the Lizards were without their top 2 players, Monique Adamczak (WTA 324) and Abbie Myers (WTA 572). The Velocity women are full of confidence after opening their 2014-15 campaign with a 5-1 victory over the South East Smashers. The women will look to field the same line up of Alison Bai, Tyra Calderwood, Imogen Clews, and Maria Vais.

There will be little rest for the team, with Round 3 being held on Sunday at Sydney University. Velocity will face the home team, Sydney University Lions. Despite coming off a loss, the Lions are not to be underestimated on their natural grass home surface. The Lions are led by Sydney teenager Pamela Boyanov who didn’t play in the opening round.

The Velocity Men’s team will take on Sydney University Lions who are coming off a 5-1 loss to the Manly Waves. The Lions are led by Chris O’Connell (ATP 487) and Steven Goh. The Velocity will be bolstered by the return of Jake Eames (ATP 697) who missed the opening round with a quad strain. James Frawley will look to continue his winning form for Velocity, with Rob Howe, Jake Okines, and Alun Jones expected to feature in tomorrow’s match.

The Men will then take on title favourites the Manly Waves on Sunday at Manly Lawn Tennis Club. The Waves feature a host of ATP ranked players including Matt Reid (ATP 260), Jordan Thompson (ATP 277), and Matt Barton (ATP 524) and were convincing in their opening round victory on Friday night. Velocity’s line up for Sunday will be mostly the same, with Dimitri Morogiannis the only addition.
