18 May 2020 | Tennis Victoria

National Volunteer Week (18-24 May 2020) is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers.

Established in 1989, the week aims to celebrate the great work that volunteers do, including those within our Victorian tennis community.

Tennis has more than 15,000 volunteers that help run our competitions, serve up the coffee on a cold winter morning and work tirelessly behind the scenes to make each and every club successful.

At this uncertain time we feel that it is more important than ever to recognise and acknowledge all of volunteers across Victoria.

This week is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on all those who make our sport what it is.

“We would like to acknowledge all of our incredible volunteers,” Tennis Victoria CEO Ruth Holdaway MBE said.

“Our volunteers are the heartbeat of Victorian tennis and deserve to be recognised, especially in times like these where they are working to ensure players across the state can return to tennis.

“We are lucky to have them involved in tennis and I hope they know how much we value their contribution.”
