7 July 2016 | Tennis Victoria

Name: Narelle Holding

Title: Club Services Officer

Role: My role involves the administration of the affiliation renewal processes for clubs, associations and commercial centres as well as processing any new applications received. I look to support committee members in enhancing their player registrations, responding to any insurance queries and offering My Tennis assistance.

Best thing about the role: Working with the community to help grow the sport of tennis and interacting with all the club volunteers who are the backbone to that growth.

Previous employment: Being young and fresh out of University, other than casual employment at a cafe, events and PR work this is my first full time role.

How long have you been at TV: I began working for Tennis Victoria in August last year in a contract position which concluded this past April. It was in May this year in which I began my current role.

What are your interests outside of TV: I have a strong passion for travelling. I believe that once you have that bug it definitely sticks with you! I do also love my footy and supporting the mighty blues.

Favourite tennis player/sporting athlete and why: I would have to say Bethany Hamilton. She may not be the worlds most successful in her sport but her positivity even during the hardest of times is something I really respect and admire. Losing an arm the way she did at such a young age it would be easy to complain or lose hope and belief in having any sort of surfing career, but instead she used that moment in her life as a motivator and never once mouthed the words “why me”. Her surfing talent but mainly her attitude in life is why she would be classified as my favourite athlete. In terms of tennis there is no looking past the Fed, he is the true definition of a champion.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where and why: Antigua and Barbuda because I am curious to see whether it looks as good as what it does on google images.

What superhero power would you like: That’s easy… teleportation! Who wouldn’t want to spend the morning on a beach in Seychelles, the afternoon on an African Safari, followed by a sunset dinner in Santorini. You can get so much more done in your day, plus how fun would a game of hide and seek be! That’s if you don’t forget you’re playing and end up at the Oscars after party. I’ve sold it haven’t I?

What is one interesting fact about you: That I could happily live off hot cross buns, although being the self-proclaimed Vice President of the hot cross bun club here at Tennis Vic that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Other than that, when the Olympic torch came to town prior to the Sydney Olympics, this became the moment I had my greatest shot to fame by having my face plastered full page on the front of the Herald Sun. Sadly it was just my grandma that asked me to sign it.

If you could change one thing about Melbourne, what would it be: Being a summer baby it would definitely be the weather. No more of this four seasons in one day business.
