When I became the Membership Secretary for Mt Waverley Tennis Club, I was introduced to the then membership program, Baseline. After an initial fiddle of about half an hour it took me just over an hour to renew all of our members online.

The following year the membership program changed to My Tennis and my voluntary workload skyrocketed into unmanageable times. I had attended the training session and, despite having been the computer specialist at my school for some years, I had almost insurmountable problems entering our members correctly on the database. The first year it must have taken well over 20 hours of work to enter the members for our little club. In the end, I sent our members in on an excel spreadsheet. Periodically I would try entering members online, resulting in huge frustration and going back to the spreadsheet option.

Earlier this year I spoke to Yvette who persuaded me to give it one more try. It was amazing! The online entry system has changed dramatically and has become extremely user friendly and easy to use. Stunned amazement was my first reaction.

Yvette then offered to come and help sort out our club categories and fees – too easy! Add to this the simplicity of producing reports about our club’s membership health, finances, etc and I started to see how My Tennis can assist our club and not just use it as an online database.

The receipt generated from My Tennis is also better as it clearly states the club fees, Tennis Victoria fees and My Tennis ID etc.

Now it is the start of our membership year and I am actually looking forward to working with My Tennis for the first time. My first entry was very quick and simple – now I just need lots more members to enter!

Well done to the membership team who have listened to the complaints (many from me!) and worked so well to address and fix the problems. Also, a big thank you to Yvette for all of her help and persistence in making me have ‘just one more try’!
