Tennis ACT is excited to welcome renowned tennis coach and leader, Milo Bradley to Canberra as he takes on the role of Tennis Australia National Development Squad Coach for the ACT.

Bradley has a long history of coaching in national and state positions having occupied positions in the Northern Territory, Western Australia and most recently, South Australia.  The role also signals a return to Canberra, where he coached at the Australian Institute of Sport as the AIS-Pro Tour Men’s Coach for three years.

His coaching resume includes working with Casey Dellacqua, Matt Ebden, Thanasi Kokkinkakis, John Millman, Storm Sanders, Jess Moore as well as rising stars Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz and Edward Winter.  Bradley also captained the Australian Junior Davis Cup team in 2011 in which Canberra’s Nick Kyrgios was a member, along with Kokkinakis and Blake Mott.

Upon arriving in Canberra, Bradley is excited to build on the position of strength tennis in the ACT and region is currently experiencing in both performance and participation.

“I look forward to assisting the ACT and region in ‘batting above their heads’ as they have previously under the guidance of Todd Larkham and Alun Jones.  Jumping into a role that leads the ACT and region Performance pathway after 15 years of former Head Coach, Todd Larkham’s highly successful stint will be a challenge, but one that I am excited to take on”.

“Tennis ACT and the ACT Government have built a first-class tennis facility at Lyneham that will guarantee plenty of tennis opportunities for years to come.  Already participation rates in ACT continue to climb despite the current climate, demonstrating to the ACT and region that facilities are important for the future of tennis and all sports.

“In my newly appointed role as National Development Squad Coach – ACT, it is vitally important to have good modern training facilities for young up and coming players to produce.  The fact that ACT has a tennis player ranked in the top 50, Nick Kyrgios, and he wants to live, train and stay in Canberra is an example that athletes can live in Canberra and the region for the duration of their career,” Bradley added.

Tennis ACT CEO, Kim Kachel is looking forward to seeing the impact Bradley will have.

“We are thrilled to welcome Milo back to Canberra.  His experience will be absolutely invaluable to all coaches, athletes and parents from the ACT and region.  Milo is more than an excellent tennis coach – he is a brilliant leader and extremely well respected.  We look forward to seeing him work closely with the network of private coaches, their aspiring athletes and parents.

“I would also like to take the time to acknowledge the huge contribution of former staff, Todd Larkham and Alun Jones and the amazing job they have done in the performance and development space.  The ACT has always “batted above it’s average” in producing top players and Todd and Alun have been a critical part of this over many many years.   They leave a brilliant foundation and legacy for the sport and will remain actively involved in developing talented athletes.”

Bradley’s appointment is part of the restructure of the player development pathways across the county.
