29 May 2020 | Tennis ACT

On Tuesday 26 May, the ACT Chief Minister announced that from midnight on 29 May 2020, the ACT will enter Phase 2.1 of recommencement for community sporting activity.

The major changes applicable to tennis include the following

  • Groups of up to 20 are now permitted.
  • Coaching – up to 20 participants plus the coach are permitted.  Spectators for minors are not considered part of the groups under Phase 2, so junior coaching groups can be up to 20 participants (plus coach).  Only one parent/guardian should accompany a minor and should be separated from participants and maintain physical distancing from other spectators of at least 1.5m.
  • Clubhouses still remain closed.

As a result, the Community Tennis Guidelines have now been updated and the new version will come into effect Saturday 30 May, 12.00am – https://www.tennis.com.au/act/?p=16193

Please ensure you read the Community Tennis Guidelines, ACT prior to play and adhere to the following at all times

  • Stay 1.5 metres apart
  • Follow the one person per 4 square metres rule.
  • Practice good hand hygiene before and after playing
  • If you are unwell, please stay home
  • Groups of no more than 20 people

Tennis encourages all participants to download the COVIDSafe app to help speed up the process of identifying anyone who has been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19.
