1 May 2020 | Tennis ACT

Updated 12 May 2020

The Community Tennis Guidelines for Continued Play, ACT has been updated to include the provision for casual court hire. Casual court bookings are limited to singles play only, with the exception of residents from the same household.

This update to include casual bookings has been made in collaboration with affiliated clubs in the ACT.  Tennis as an activity has been approved to continue throughout the COVID-19 situation, however as previously communicated, the concern had been around the impact of the requirements on volunteers at clubs.

The past few weeks have provided us with the opportunity to work through with our volunteers how tennis can operate while in a safe environment for both clubs and participants.

Some clubs have evaluated their situation and decided they do not have the capacity to reopen at this time and we fully support this decision.

Tennis ACT will continue to review the guidelines and recommendations regularly and act within ACT Government restrictions and guided by expert medical advice

Please ensure you review the guidelines which are available here prior to booking and consult your club for any specific questions.

These guidelines have been developed to reduce the likelihood of spreading the COVID-19 virus through tennis. Before attending a tennis venue or playing tennis, you should consider your individual situation noting that the COVID-19 virus can spread very quickly and result in very serious medical complications in some people. Like any activities, there are some inherent risks involved and by participating you are accepting those risks.
