14 May 2019 | Tennis ACT

The ACT has fielded teams at the 14/u NSW State Teams event in Gosford, in what has been a huge month for Canberra athletes.

Sporting the new Team ACT shirts, the ACT was represented by a boys and girls team competing for the Lesley Bowrey and Ken Rosewall Cups held at the Gosford Tennis Centre the weekend of May 11-12.  All players received more than 12 sets of highly competitive tennis over the two days in a Davis/Fed Cup style of play with managers allowed to sit on court and offer feedback.

In the boys event, the team of Nick Maleganeas, Daniel McDonald and Anirudh Nallaparaju with team manager Todd Larkham performed well, winning 4 out of their 5 pool matches before finishing in equal 5th position (out of 12) overall. The girls team of Isabella Andrews, Maqaylar Tere and Dyan Jayasena with team manager Belen Barcenilla Coll battled to some very close losses and were highly competitive before eventually finishing in 11th position.

The past month has been an outstanding one with ACT players competing all over the country.

Congratulations to the following players on their results.
