28 March 2019 | Tennis ACT

The ACT boys and girls have posted strong results at the 12/u NSW State Teams Championships held in Bathurst from 23-24 March with both teams earning a spot in the top 4.

The aim of the Championships is to provide 12 and under players with first class competition against players from across the state in an enjoyable team atmosphere, whilst introducing the educational aspect of on-court managers.

The boys team of Hugh Taylor, Jack Dugdale, Stellan Lindrud and Kiran Myutel-Mansur made it through to the final of the Tony Roche Cup before falling to Metropolitan Magic.

The girls team of Aliyah Dwyer, Isabella Andrews, Marqarlar Tere and Wambui Taylor also had a great weekend competing for the Jan O’Neill Cup making it through the playoff for 3rd and 4th before their match against Metropolitan Lightning was abandoned due to rain.

Alex Nancarrow managed the boys team, while Belen Barcenilla-Coll managed the girls team.

Talent Development Manager for the ACT, Alun Jones attributed the success to great preparation and a strong team culture.

”The outstanding results are a nice reward to all the hard work the players have been putting in over the past couple of months”

“Coaches Belen and Alex believed the team spirit contributed to the strong performance over the weekend”

Congratulations to the team members and thank you to the team managers for a great weekend of tennis.
