The next generation of tennis players have battled it out in Season 1 of the Super 10’s competition held in May at the Canberra Tennis Centre.

Thirty-six boys and 16 girls from the ACT, South East and South West NSW competed in six rounds of competition over two weekends which also included two training sessions.

The competition for 10/u athletes creates a culture of fair play, team work and engaging environment.

Tennis Australian Tennis Development Manager – ACT SE NSW, Alun Jones was pleased with the success of the competition.

“I was very impressed with the talent coming through.

“Super 10’s offers a team competition which is very important at this age, providing the chance to make new friends and have a lot of fun.

“The team environment with an on court manager provides players valuable feedback during matches and helps take the pressure off themselves”.

In the boys competition, team Orange, consisting of Luka Cowles, Will Hatcher-nee, Will Fletcher, Rafael Karippanon, Luke Burgess and Joey Arundell went through the competition undefeated.

The girls competition was taken out by team Orange, featuring Hannah Philips, Mackensie Dugdale Chloe Beetson and Ada Zhang.

Thank you to the 12 local coaches who were involved in managing teams and running the training sessions.

Season 2 of Super 10’s will be held over two weekends in November.  Anyone interested in finding out more information can contact Alun Jones on [email protected].
