Andreas Seppi (ITA) and Marton Fucsovics (HUN) have set up a blockbuster final at the East Hotel Canberra Challenger to be played at 11am on Saturday 13 January. Just two spots separate the pair who are currently ranked 87 and 85 respectively in what will be their first career meeting.

Seppi was in strong form in the semifinals as he cruised to a straight sets victory over fifth seed Victor Estrella Burgos (DOM), 6-2 6-2.  After facing a match point in his opening round clash with Maximilian Marterer (GER), Seppi has continued to improve with ever match.

The Italian has previously been ranked as high as No.18 in the world and boasts career victories over Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Nick Kyrgios.  Seppi owns 3 ATP World Tour titles and a further 7 ATP Challenger titles.  Seppi has a strong history of playing well in Australia and has made it to the fourth round of Australian Open in 2013, 2015, and 2017.

He will face a tough opponent in 25 year old Fucsovics who is currently in career best form.  In the semifinals he came through a tough three set battle with Maxime Janvier (FRA), 6-3 4-6 6-2.

In 2017 Fucsovics broke into the top 100 for the first time after qualifying and making the quarterfinals at the ATP World Tour 500 event in Basel, Switzerland.  He also won two ATP Challenger titles and made the final of a third.

Fucsovics played a crucial role in Hungary returning to the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group, winning both singles and the doubles in the play-off match against Hungary in September.

The final will commence at 11.00am at the Canberra Tennis Centre with entry by gold coin donation.  Seating is available on a first come first served basis.
