Torrens and Red Hill Junior Pennant teams clashed once again in a history making final rematch on Sunday 4 June, Torrens taking out the Division 2 Red Autumn title 4 sets 31 games – 2 sets 28 games.

Torrens team member, Felix Lawler, is thrilled with the outcome of the rematch and can’t wait to play in the next Junior Pennant competition.

“We are so happy to be the winners, and we are ready for Division 1,” he said.

Torrens Tennis club player, Noah Wright commended the hard work of his team and coaching staff after the replay.

“It was such a nice experience to have to play in the re-match, and also very exciting for our team,” he said.

“We worked really hard on our doubles over the week with our coach, this is what we feel let us down last weekend.”

Red Hill Tennis Club also enjoyed replaying last week’s final, as they saw it as a second chance to defeat their successful opponent.

Red Hill team member, Kieren McConville commented;

“Every morning this week I did singles training, and it worked,” he said.

“We were so happy that we got the draw and had the chance to replay the match. They were winners against us all season.”

Tennis ACT Competition organiser, Brittany Hughes was delighted with both teams’ performances and with the high number of supporters.

“Once again both teams played extremely well, with perfect conditions for tennis,” she said.

“There was a great spectator turnout and spectacular atmosphere around the Canberra Tennis Centre.”

Tennis ACT would like to congratulate and thank all the supporters and Torrens and Red Hill Tennis Clubs for their participation and commitment over the Autumn period.
