9 April 2014 | Tennis Victoria

Tennis Victoria will host the first ever Victorian Junior State Titles under the new Nationals structure from Thursday 10 – Monday 14 April 2014 across three locations.

Dendy Park Tennis Club, Royal Park Tennis Club and Dingley Tennis Club will all host matches in the 12/u, 14/u and 16/u age groups with singles and doubles in boys and girls competitions.

This is the first state titles to be held under the new Tennis Australia junior championships format where all National titles are now held in the first week of December at the December Showdown at Melbourne Park.

The winners of each age group will earn a wildcard for the December event. 72% of the 350 entries are Victorian with the rest of the competitors coming from interstate with a small amount from overseas.

Tournament Director Andrew Reynolds said “There is a real buzz around the Tennis Victoria office as staff prepare to deliver an excellent tournament with the quality of entries in all age groups coming from Victoria and other states. Victoria hosts the first state title followed by Brisbane in July and Sydney in September.  On a state level it is fabulous to see so many young Victorians taking the opportunity to ply their trade against some of the country’s best junior tennis players. As long as the Melbourne weather is kind to us!!”

Matches will commence at 9am on each day of play with the finals to be held at Dendy Park Tennis Club on Monday 14 April 2014.
