Hobart coach Tony Blom and Devonport Primary School are among the Australian Tennis Awards finalists for 2018.

Blom is a finalist in the Coaching Excellence Club award, with Devonport Primary School shortlisted in the Most Outstanding School category.

Blom is the head club coach at the Domain Tennis Centre, Geilston Bay Tennis Club and Rosny Park Tennis Club. He also conducts weekly coaching sessions with more than 10 schools.

“Seeing the kids enjoying playing is the most rewarding part,” Blom says of his work.

Tennis is thriving at Devonport Primary School since the introduction of ANZ Tennis Hot Shots two years ago. The school, which has 330 students, offers tennis as part of its curriculum from kinder to grade six.

All Tasmanian Tennis Awards winners, announced in September, were automatically nominated in their respective category for a prestigious Australian Tennis Award. Finalists were then selected from nominees across all states and territories.

Australian Tennis Awards winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in Melbourne on Monday 26 November.
