Lyneham ACT, Australia, 26 August 2015 | Tennis ACT

The ACT Indoor Championships were held on the 17-19th of July at the Canberra Tennis Centre.  The Bronze AMT used the FAST4 format, with players playing best of 3 short sets (first to 4) along with no ad scoring, tiebreaks at 3-3, and playing lets.  Canberra local James Frawley took out the Men’s event, while Sydney’s Monique Burton took out the Women’s event.

In the Men’s event, the Top 4 seeds all made it through to the semi finals.  In the first semi, Alexander de Jong upset number 1 seed Yuki Okamoto, winning the match 4-1, 4-1.  In the other semi, James Frawley defeated Patrick Rynsaardt 4-1, 4-3.  In the all Canberra final, James Frawley proved to have too much experience, taking the title 4-1, 4-0.

Things also went according to plans in the Women’s event with all 4 seeds making it through to the final 4.  Monique Burton was too strong for ACT’s Chorlida Kang, 4-2, 4-1, while Jacinta Pang defeated fellow Canberran Leah Williamson 4-0, 4-2.  In the final, Burton dominated the match taking the match 4-1, 4-0.

In the consolation events, Jamieson Nathan defeated Tristian Adrian, 4-1, 4-2, while Stephanie Pang defeated Madison Sutherland 4-0, 4-0.
