The ACT Government has announced a total of $80,000 is now available to any local sport organisation to assist the development of sport or active recreation opportunities for specific groups via the ACT Government’s 2017 Inclusive Participation Funding Program (IPFP).

The primary objective of the IPFP is to increase participation in sport and recreation activities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people, older adults, and people with a disability.

The program is an important way to support and increase inclusive sport and active recreation opportunities for our community.

Tennis ACT chief executive Kim Kachel encouraged all local tennis organisations that currently provide inclusive sport activities, or are considering doing so, to apply for the available funding.

“This is a chance for local tennis clubs and tennis affiliates to obtain financial support for some of the great programs and events they deliver” he said. “I urge everybody to pursue this valuable opportunity as a stepping stone to further community projects.”

Funding can be used to implement new or existing sport programs; provide relevant training and education opportunities for employees; or purchase specialised equipment to increase sport and active recreation opportunities.

Applications close at 11:00am Thursday, 6 April 2017.
