The Pines Tennis Club has a brand new head coach, and he might be a familiar face to many Canberrans.

Robert Jamieson has coached in Canberra for the last eight years, and is a well-known figure in the Canberra tennis community. He is currently a part of Canberra School of Tennis, one of the biggest tennis coaching organisations in the ACT.

He was nominated for the 2010 Tennis ACT Coach of The Year, and this year helped develop 12-year-old James Williams into a Tennis ACT National Academy Scholarship holder.

Jamieson says that he is excited about the challenge of the new coaching job, and is looking to expand the club into the Tuggernanong Valley community.

“One of the best things about being a tennis coach is when your students achieve something that they never thought they could do … to see their happy face once they achieve this is priceless, and makes coaching the best job in the world,” Jamieson told Tennis ACT.

Jamieson is a Qualified Tennis Australia Club Pro (Level 2) Coach & a MLC Tennis Hotshots Deliverer.  He will be offering coaching programs for every age and playing style, from four-year-old beginners (in the Wilson Mr Pee Wee Program), to elite teenage players, and even adults looking to re-discover their love for tennis.

Robert will be running a Free Come & Try Day on Saturday 17th September from 1:30pm-3:00pm for anyone that would like to visit the club & see what is on offer at The Pines.
