Alun, Ali, ToddTennis ACT today announced East Hotel as an Official partner of Tennis ACT and the Official Hotel partner of Canberra Velocity. The announcement was made at East Hotel where Velocity players Alun Jones and Alison Bai unveiled their new uniform and met with hotel General Manager Todd Handy.

The Velocity are a team of high achievers with strong community support and a great program for both aspiring and established players.  We look forward to a long-lasting and productive relationship” said Handy.

The East Hotel, located in Kingston has recently been honoured at the 2014 Australian Hotel Awards as the winner of the best suite/apartment hotel. In speaking about the partnership, Tennis ACT CEO Ross Triffitt said “East Hotel has established itself as one of the premier hotels in Canberra over the past 2 years and Tennis ACT and Canberra Velocity are excited to partner with them”

Velocity players Jones and Bai have been gearing up for their title defence in the NSW/ACT conference with the draw now released for the first 3 rounds. The first round will commence on Friday the 21st of November in Wollongong with the Women’s team facing newcomers the South East Smashers. The Canberra Velocity men will face off against Macquarie University. Round 2 sees Velocity head to Sydney Olympic Park on Thursday the 27th of November where the Women are up against UTS City Lizards and the Men will play Sydney University Lions. The third round taking place on Sunday 30th November will see the teams split with the women playing on natural grass at Sydney University against the home team Sydney University Lizards. The men will head to Manly where they will look to gain the edge over home team Manly Waves.

The focus will then turn to the 6-7th of December where Canberra Velocity will host rounds 4 and 5 at the Canberra Tennis Centre in Lyneham. The draw for these two rounds has yet to be released but will be a crucial factor in determining the ATL conference finalists. The home tie will also coincide with the Great Tennis-Tacular which will see additional activities happening on site including Hit the target, Speed Serve, and ANZ Tennis Hot Shots. Saturday will feature family day will face painting, jumping castle, and an exhibition tennis match featuring the Brumbies and other local sporting personalities. The Australian Open trophies will also be making an appearance on Saturday with spectators having the opportunity to have their picture taken with the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup (Men’s) and Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup (Women’s).

After 5 rounds the top 2 teams will face off in the final on Friday the 12th of December at City Community Tennis.
