Australian Open fourth seed, Andy Murray (GBR) or Alice Springs thanks to the AO Blitz is the last town standing in the Northern Territory after 19th seed, Kevin Anderson (RSA) or Coconut Grove was knocked out in the Round of 16 against seventh seed Tomas Berdych (CZE) / Esperance (WA).

Murray / Alice Springs will next take on Stephane Robert who lost in qualifying but was awarded a lucky loser position when 21st seed Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER) / Templestowe (VIC) had to withdraw.

I didn’t actually know where the place was and then someone told me that the temperatures there can reach nearly 50 degrees, I thought that sounded pretty brutal” Murray said when asked about representing Alice Springs in the AO Blitz . “I don’t think I will be going there for a while, not after all the heat we have had in Melbourne this last week“.

Alice Springs is one of 24 towns still in contention for the competitions major prize and will be on the edge of their seats cheering on their charge as action heats up on court during week two of the tournament.
