24 hours of tennis a smashing success

03 November 2011 |

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Tennis Association held its annual 24 hour Festival of Tennis from 2pm Saturday 29th to 2pm Sunday 30th October. The event was a great success, the battle on centre court was a highlight, with participants booking one hour slots within the 24 hours, with all proceeds from the festival going directly to the Hornsby Hospital- Children’s Ward.

There was also plenty of action outside of centre court with demonstrations of Tennis Australia’s grassroots tennis program, MLC Tennis Hot Shots, the ever popular Speed Serve, Target Courts and the Social Tennis Movie Trivia Night. Raffle prizes and auction items were also kindly donated to make this event a night to remember.

HKDTA President Marc Donnelly explained, “We are thrilled that the festival has been supported by the Hornsby community for the local hospital. At the moment we are still counting all of the donations, but it looks like we definitely raised more this year than last!”

The association would like to thank Tennis NSW Metropolitan CTO Kathryn Schulz and intern, Blake Smith, for all of their support throughout the planning and implementation stages. HKDTA has already booked in October 2012 so keep an eye on our website or visit tennis.com.au/hkdta.
