The Most Outstanding Event award celebrates competitive tournaments that deliver an exceptional experience for athletes, coaches, parents and officials through high quality execution, outstanding customer service, and a vibrant atmosphere.
This year’s finalists; Clarence Open, Geilston Bay Open and the North vs North West Challenge each exemplify what it means to deliver an outstanding tennis event that brings communities together both on and off the court.
Congratulations to the following finalists
Clarence Open
The 2025 Clarence Open achieved record breaking participation, attracting 164 entries across 24 events catering to players of all ages and abilities. From junior development and club level divisions to mixed doubles and social competitions, the tournament delivered an inclusive program that kept courts buzzing across the weekend.
Special initiatives such as the Hotshots Challenge for children aged 5–12 and a Junior/Senior doubles event highlighted the organisers’ commitment to creating fun, memorable experiences for all participants. Supported by sponsors including Clarence City Council, Tassie Awards and Trophies, Events Tasmania and Tennis Australia, the event also engaged the local community through vibrant on-site activities and strong media promotion.
Geilston Bay Open
The Geilston Bay Open continued its tradition of excellence, drawing 119 players and expanding its format through collaboration with Rosny Park Tennis Club. The tournament offered something for everyone, from Green Ball and Junior Series matches to Open 3K events and Fast4 mixed doubles shootouts.
The event’s flexibility and attention to detail shone through, accommodating travel schedules, adapting to weather challenges and ensuring matches ran smoothly across two venues. Their proactive approach ensured players received plenty of opportunities to compete, socialise and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere the event is known for.
North vs North West Challenge
Bringing together more than 100 players from across the northern regions, the North vs North West Challenge has become a standout fixture on Tasmania’s tennis calendar. Driven by passionate volunteers from Tennis North and the North West Tennis League, the event blends strong regional rivalry with a community spirit that keeps players returning year after year.
A mix of singles, doubles, women’s, junior and masters divisions ensured engaging matchups for all competitors, while off-court experiences, such as the outdoor bar and food stalls supporting junior development, added to the festive feel. Local sponsor Albert Brewery played a key role in creating this unique event atmosphere.
Congratulations to the organising team and volunteers behind the North vs North West Challenge recipients of the 2025 Tasmanian Tennis Award for Most Outstanding Event.
