Tasmania’s rising tennis talent was on full display at the recent J30 Adelaide Junior ITF event, where Balin Russell (pictured left) and his doubles partner Aiden Nitch (Australia) claimed the boys doubles title in a thrilling final match.

The sixth-seeded pair faced off against fellow Tasmanian Doug Sheppard and his partner Chris Yarak (Australia), the seventh seeds, in what proved to be a fiercely competitive contest. After dropping the opening set 4–6, Russell and Nitch responded with a dominant second set performance, winning 6–2 to level the match.

The final was decided with a tight super tie-break, with Russell and Nitch who edging ahead to secure victory, with an 11–9 scoreline.

This result marks a significant achievement for both Tasmanian athletes. Tennis Tasmania congratulates Balin, Doug, and their respective partners on a fantastic tournament, showcasing their talents on the national stage.
