After an eight-year hiatus, the Club Professional Coaching Course (Level 2) has returned to Tasmania, commencing the first two days of learning in Hobart on May 15–16. The comprehensive 12-month program brings together eight Tasmanian tennis coaches from across the state for monthly content and professional development sessions aimed at advancing coaching skills. The content will be delivered by a variety of highly experienced coaches and coach education specialists from across the country.
“The coaching course was a total game-changer, packed with great insights on patterns of play and biomechanics. Paul made it fun and engaging, and it was great to connect with other Tassie coaches along the way.” said course participant Catherine Krueger.
This year’s cohort reflects a strong commitment to inclusivity and regional representation. With an even 50/50 gender split, the group includes five coaches from Southern Tasmania, two from the North, and one from the North West. The diversity of backgrounds is expected to enrich the learning experience and strengthen the tennis coaching network across Tasmania.
The course last ran in Tasmania in 2017, with three coaches participating. The significant increase in numbers this year highlights growing interest in professional development within the sport and the importance of structured coaching pathways.
Over the next year, participants will engage in monthly sessions covering technical instruction, player development, business development and coaching leadership, with the goal of enhancing the quality and consistency of tennis coaching throughout the state.
