At 67, Tasmanian Stephen Dance has once again distinguished himself on the international stage, clinching his second ITF Masters World Team Championship.

Fresh from his victory in Mallorca, Spain, Dance and his team triumphed in the 65+ division, mirroring their 2022 success in Florida with a riveting final against the USA.

“I am very happy with the result,” said Dance, reflecting on the intense match that led to their consecutive championship win.

Even with this achievement, there’s little time for rest as Dance sets his sights on the 2024 Australian Seniors Championships, which will continue the competitive spirit of tennis in Tasmania following the Hobart International in January.

Dance is already in preparation mode, with two weekly training sessions soon to intensify to four or five as the championship looms closer.

“We look forward to playing other teams and individuals from around Australia on our courts,” he shared, expressing eagerness for the upcoming encounters.

The Australian Seniors Championships is not just a competitive arena but also a celebration of the sport’s inclusivity, inviting players of varied skill levels—from social enthusiasts to seasoned competitors—to engage in the love of the game. The event promises to be a wonderful showcase of Seniors tennis, promoting the sport’s significant health and wellbeing benefits.

With over a thousand players and spectators anticipated, the championship is set to be a spectacular occasion for Tasmania, highlighting the vibrant community and sporting excellence of the region.
