Junior players in Tasmania have the opportunity to compete in upcoming Term 2 Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) Series to be held at Tennis World Launceston on Saturdays across May and June.

The series will consist of four round-robin events for juniors with a UTR of between 0 and 5, with the final round on 19 June to coincide with a challenge event open to adults and juniors with a UTR of 5 or higher.

The entry fee is capped at $20 per event, with the overall series winner and runner-up receiving prizes from the Tennis World Pro-Shop.

Players will need to play in at least three events, including the final round, to be eligible.

Tennis World Launceston Leagues & Competitions Coordinator Joseph Strickland believes the demand for competitive tennis has been met by the emerging popularity of the UTR platform, with the April junior tournament swing having reached its conclusion.

“We have created these these events is to provide junior players with an opportunity for players to get some match practice in while also boosting their UTR ratings,” he said.

Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) is a purely results-based global rating system which rates all players on the same 16-point scale regardless of age, gender or location.
