Following two days of inter-regional play, the South Region has claimed the Super 10s & Tassie 12s Regional Challenge in Launceston over the weekend.

The Regional Challenge, which encompassed two standout boys and girls from both the 10/u & 12/u age groups (per region), is a developmental competition, with the focus on competitiveness through representing their region with pride. In total, 24 players and 6 coaches represented their respective regions throughout the camp/competition, played in ideal conditions at the Launceston Regional Tennis Centre.

Although the final placings look relatively one sided, on the court the scores were much closer, with several matches coming down to the wire. In the Super 10s, the North-West came within one point of defeating the South, with a sudden death point  following the horn sounding to conclude play. Stand out North-West players Annabelle Radcliffe and Balin Russell were both undefeated at the top position in the 10s, with Anamanu Vaka the pick of the girls in the 12s. For the North Region, Oliver Carswell and Tiana Philp were standouts, playing with finesse and aggression throughout all their matches. Lastly, for the South Region George Anderson and Edison Lee formed a formidable one-two punch in the 12s, with Sofia Elliott and Murdoch Lee also impressing in the 10s.

In claiming the inaugural Regional Challenge, the South Region takes home the perpetual trophy; a Tasmanian huon pine map of Tasmania, crafted by Launceston native David White.
