We are very excited to announce the Tasmanian Tennis League (TTL) pilot beginning tomorrow at the Rosny Park Tennis Club. This three week trial in Hobart and surrounds features some of the very best current and future tennis players from the South region of Tasmania.
Headlining this premier competition for the men is the standout trio of Richard Wynwood, Peter Leary and Rohan Kerr. All three of these men are accomplished tennis players with Wynwood claiming a career high International Tennis Federation (ITF) Seniors ranking of 103, Leary playing in the Burnie International (where he faced current world number 74 Marinko Matosovic) and Kerr obtaining a career high ITF Seniors ranking of 20 in the world.
On the women’s side junior standout Catherine Krueger headlines the list with Kathryn Easther. Krueger has recently returned from ITF Junior tournaments where she obtained a breakthrough win over 95th ranked Lizette Cabrera. Easther who claimed the Hobart Open doubles crown last year will look to add some valuable experience to her talented squad.
Teams will comprise of two men and two women with singles, doubles and mixed doubles action the flavour of play. The four standout teams are as follows;
South Demons: Richard Wynwood (Captain), Johanna Jones, Remy Lynch and Sanyukta Singh
South Devils: Peter Leary (Captain), Phoebe Davis (Victoria Geale*), Matthew Harris, Eliane Fader
South Sharks: Rohan Kerr (Captain), Kathryn Easther, Nicholas Fader, Hannah Coombe
South Tigers: Shaun Thomas (Captain), Catherine Krueger, Bradley Dunn, Jessica Fowler
*Victoria Geale will substitute for Phoebe Davis in week 1
Play is set to kick of tomorrow to run alongside the Medibank Junior Development Series Rosny with action as follows;
Saturday 10th August 10am-12.30pm; South Demons Vs South Sharks
Saturday 10th August 1.30pm-4pm; South Devils Vs South Tigers
