Congratulations to Thomas Haan from Launceston for receiving the Stosur award for aggression and risk taking during the National Talent Development Camp in Canberra (May 27th-31st).

Travelling to the camp with private coach Matthew Carswell, Haan relished in the opportunity to duke it out with Australia’s best talent while learning invaluable experience throughout. During the camp many were impressed with Haan’s ‘no-fear’ approach which resulted in the Stosur award for taking risks under pressure and using controlled aggression being given.

This prestigious camp brings together the best 10/under athletes in Canberra to train in an intense training environment once per week and to complement their existing weekly training program. Throughout the week the kids were tested both mentally, physically and put through the Talent Search testing protocols, which tested their:

  • Ability to think tactically
  • Technical level
  • Speed and agility
  • Matchplay ability
The kids had a fun day and it was a great opportunity for National Academy Canberra Head Coach Todd Larkham to see the future of elite junior tennis, “There were some great athletes present on the day and we now need to help ensure that these kids develop at a fast rate and keep in touch with the best kids in Australia in their age group over the coming years” said Larkham.

Congratulations on the huge achievement Thomas and we are looking forward to seeing bigger and better things soon!!
