Hobart teenager Harry Bourchier claimed his first National Title taking out the Under 14’s Doubles Grasscourt Championships in Mildura over the weekend. Bourchier and partner Ryan Frawley (ACT) were the fourth seeds for the event and although pairing for the first time proved a formidable team. The pair were relatively untroubled only conceding one set throughout the competition. Even their highly fancied opponents in the final, the number two seedings of Jack Alberton (SA) and Nick Horton (NSW), proved no match for Bourchier and Frawley with the score in the final 6-1, 6-4.

This is the first major title for the youngest Bourchier whose older siblings Edward and Ella are both on tennis scholarships in the United States.

Bourchier is part of the Tasmanian High Performance Academy and is trained by State Coach Simon Youl. “It’s a great result for Harry, his first National title” said Youl who was in Mildura. “Harry is an extremely hard worker and travels, trains and competes more than any other player in Tasmania so this result is thoroughly deserved. I have no doubt that this is just the beginning of some great results for Harry” added Youl.
