Gardens Tennis 1 cruise into the Metro League Grand Final !

Harrison Lee-Schell and Ben Scott got Gardens Tennis 1 off to a great start with a convincing win in the #1 doubles over Desmond McLellan and Madeleine Murray 6-1 6-1. However McLellan got his revenge in the #1 singles defeating Lee-Schell 6-1 6-2.

David Bridges and Michael Shepheard (GT1) didn’t have it all their own way in the #2 doubles, dropping the first set to Lucas Frichot and Oscar Ferdinands 2-6. The Gardens pairing fought back to take the second set comfortably 6-1 and held onto the match tie-break 10-7.

Gardens Tennis 2 outlast Tennis Palmerston in a struggle !

Tennis Palmerston 1:  2 Rubbers / 4 Sets / 52 Games

Naomi Fellows and Andrew Hawke rushed through their #2 doubles to give Gardens Tennis 2 an early lead, losing just three games to Darren Jacobson and Bethany Illeman’s 6-0 6-3. The same can’t be said for the #1 doubles which saw Daniel Parker and Sam Giess (TP1) clinch victory in a tightly fought match against Darrell Halim and Mark Pead 5-7 7-6 10-4.

Parker also had a battle on his hands in the singles with Halim extending the Palmerston number one 7-5 7-5. Gardens Tennis 2 ran away with the remaining singles with wins to Pead, Fellows and Hawke.

The Grand Final will be a local derby with Gardens Tennis 1 taking on Gardens Tennis 2 for Club bragging rights. The Final will be conducted on Saturday at Gardens Tennis from 3.00pm with a BBQ function and presentation to follow.
