The Northern Territory will have its first taste of the elite tennis world when two Alice Springs line umpires, Gary Bigg and Leanne Usher travel to Melbourne for the 2013 Australian Open (14 – 27 Jan).

This is a giant step from their local Pro Tour, the Alice Springs Tennis International, but Bigg and Usher are no strangers to the big stage;

Bigg called lines for John McEnroe and Henri Leconte at the 2012 World Tennis Challenge in Adelaide while Usher was at the 2012 Caloundra Challenger in Queensland, calling lines for future Australian stars; Sam Groth, Marinko Matosevic and Luke Saville.

Usher will also get the chance to warm up the vocals and hand signals before the Australian Open when she attends the Brisbane International (30 Dec – 6 Jan) which forms part of the Australian Open Series leading into the first Grand SlamĀ® of the year.
