Last week saw the top of the Premiership Table clash between DTC Sports 2 and Tennis Palmerston, which saw Palmy come away with a 6 Rubbers to 3 win.

DTC Sports 2 v Tennis Palmerston

Tennis Palmerston held a 2-1 lead going into the singles, until DTC Sports 2 #1 Nicholas Munro levelled the score with a comfortable 6-1 6-1 win over George Shepheard. However Tennis Palmerston secured the tie with victories to Matt Dudley, Mark Pead, Ben Lye and Rhys Janes in the remaining singles.

People’s Choice Reserve League
Tennis Palmerston had a clean sweep against DTC Sports 2, claiming all 6 Rubbers. DTC Sports #4 Grace Henderson put up a great fight against Valentina Floeck, just going down 4-6 3-6. Floeck teamed with Rebecca Rayner for a comfortable 6-1 6-1 win over Henderson and Eilis Kruger in the #2 doubles.

Gardens Tennis v DTC Sports 1

Gardens Tennis hosted DTC Sports 1 in the other tie, which saw Gardens clinch a comfortable 7 Rubbers to 2 win.

Ryan Palfrey and Michael Shepheard got DTC Sports 1 off to a win, coming from a set down to defeat Daniel Parker and Steve Lewis-Driver 2-6 6-4 7-6 (8). However Gardens fought back to win the remaining two doubles and kept rolling home to take five of the six singles Rubbers. Palfrey salvaged the lone singles victory for DTC Sports with a 6-1 6-4 win over Parker.

People’s Choice Reserve League
The late afternoon heat claimed a few victims at Gardens Tennis, however it did not affect the quality of matches on show. Gardens #3 Liam Jong clinch a close victory over Katie Riggall 6-4 0-6 7-6 (9) and both players again shone for there respective teams in the doubles. Jong and Serena Adams came back from a set down to defeat Riggall and Jaimee Murphy 4-6 6-3 7-6 (10).

After Round 2 the People’s Choice Metro League Player of the Year is a tightly contested battle with Matt Dudley (Tennis Palmerston) and Nicholas Munro (DTC Sports 2) both undefeated after two rounds.
