18 December 2025 | Tennis NT

The Northern Territory has sent a powerful message to the national tennis community – we are here to play and stay. At the 2025 QLD Junior Teams Carnival, the NT’s U12’s team delivered a clinical performance to claim first place and take home the trophy in their division!

The victory was the centerpiece of a massive campaign that saw 16 NT junior players and three coaches travel to Brisbane. The event provided crucial competitive exposure, testing the NT’s best against high-caliber regional teams in a high-pressure and alternative environment.

RISING CHAMPIONS

The U12’s victory set a high bar for the rest of the squad, showcasing the depth of young talent coming out of the Top End.

The older age groups also delivered gritty performances against the opposition:

U12s: 1st Place (Champions)

U14s: 4th Place

U17s: 7th Place

WINNERS ON AND OFF THE COURT

Success for the Territory wasn’t just measured in sets and matches. The NT team earned the respect of their peers and officials alike, proving that they are as humble in victory as they are fierce in competition.

In a proud moment for the squad, Caitlyn Casey and Darius Chung were both awarded the Sportsmanship Award. Voted for by the players and attendees, these awards recognize Caitlyn and Darius for their fair play, positive attitude, and respect for their opponents – trophies presented by Australian Tennis Player, Kimberly Birrell.

LOUD AND PROUD

If the results didn’t grab everyone’s attention, the NT’s team spirit certainly did. The squad was officially recognized for having the loudest battle cry of the entire carnival. From the first serve to the final point, the energy from the NT sidelines was unmatched, fueling the players on the court and showcasing the unique camaraderie of Territory sport.

By bringing together regional talent and providing a pathway for healthy competition, the 2025 QLD Junior Teams Carnival has marked a significant milestone for NT Tennis. The U12s may be the ones wearing the crown, but the entire team has returned home as champions.

Congratulations to all players, and thank you parents and travelling coaches; Alex Capill (Tennis Palmerston), Shaye Faulkner (Tennis QLD) and Martin Rocca (Tennis NT) for supporting this event and creating such success!
