The Katherine Open has firmly cemented its reputation as a standout event on the Territory tennis calendar. This isn’t just a tournament; it’s a true tennis festival that offers something for every member of the community. From competitive players seeking high-level match play and juniors just starting their journey, to social players looking for a fun weekend and dedicated coaches, officials, and spectators – the Katherine Open delivers an outstanding, all-round experience.
A unique feature that sets this event apart is its deep community engagement, highlighted by the signature Potluck Dinner hosted on the first night alongside the family friendly Red Ball Rumble that brought a social competitiveness like no other. This tradition brings together local supporters and participants, fostering a warm, inclusive atmosphere at the Katherine Tennis Club.

EXCELLENCE IN OFFICIATING FINALIST: Jenny Roe
For nearly two decades, Jenny Roe has been an integral and guiding presence in the NT tennis community. Her journey began when her children first took to the court, leading her to formally join the Tennis Australia Officiating pathway in 2013.
Jenny is a regular volunteer, lending her expertise to NT tournaments and playing a crucial role in the development of the next generation of officials. She excels at providing constructive feedback to her teams at events, drawing on her many years of experience to help them improve their handling of both on- and off-court issues. Jenny’s dedication is actively raising the standard and professionalism of officiating across the Territory.
15TH ANNUAL NEWCOMBE MEDAL, AUSTRALIAN TENNIS AWARDS
Nominees will be travelling to Melbourne, where the ceremony will be held at the Palladium Crown on Monday the 8th of December.
