
Local sports fans are set for a fortnight of action with ‘HIT after HIT’ of professional women’s tournaments running until Sunday October 12th at the Darwin International Tennis Centre in Marrara. beIN sports will also be live streaming the event on their platform from the semi-finals onwards in both events.
Aspiring professional tennis players will not only compete for a portion of the prize money, but also the opportunity to accumulate world ranking points to qualify for wildcards to Grand Slam events.
A total prize pool of $35,000 USD in prize money is on offer for each event.
Spectators are welcome to witness ‘greats in the making’, with FREE ENTRY to watch Live Women’s Tennis from 3pm daily.
Yesterday we kicked off with day 1 of qualifying rounds. Local NT player Amber SHARP lost in a tough 2-setter against Gumanat Kaur SANDHU (Aus) in a tight 2-set match 7-5 6-3.
Also on Show Court Japanese player Nalu HIMENO won against Kristanna GJOMAKAJ (Aus) 6-4 6-4 in a match lasting 3 hours.
Come to the Darwin International Tennis Centre from 3pm every day. Entry is free and the kiosk is open all day til play ends.
All sports fans are welcome to the Sunday Slam on October 5th at the Darwin International Tennis Centre.
We kick off 130pm hosting a forum with emerging pro tennis players and top coaches, hearing about the player journey to becoming a professional athlete. At 2pm the NT will host the One Point Slam!
This event has a max of 32 entries – 30 places reserved for NT’s amateurs and 2 professional female players will be in the mix. Whoever wins the point, wins the match and progresses through the knock-out draw. Last player standing wins the prize!
This week’s event ends with the Sunday Slam on 5th October. A packed day of family-friendly fun.
1:30pm: Q&A with emerging pro tennis players and top coaches (Function Room)
2pm: One Point Slam (Show Court) ENTER THE ONE POINT SLAM
3pm: Women’s Singles Finals of the Darwin International Pro Tennis Event
The One Point Slam is open to all players aged 14+ and all levels of play. Whether you are an adult comp player, senior, coach, or junior, we want to see you there! If you fancy your chances you might take home $500.
