The NT had 3 young players participating in the National Super 10’s camp held in Melbourne Park. Kai Dysart, Darius Chung, and Darcy Rayson earned the opportunity to participate in this National Super 10’s camp as a result of their participation and performance within the NT’s Super 10’s program. Participants in the Super 10’s program must display specific tennis competencies, receive regular coaching, and demonstrate their commitment to tennis.
The theme for the 2025 Super 10’s camp was “experience”, and this camp lived up to it. The NT team arrived at Melbourne Park on Tuesday of week 2 staying through to Sunday and had an unforgettable time. So far they have seen the “backstage” of the Australian Open, something few people are privileged to do. They walked the iconic Walk of Champions onto Rod Laver Arena and had a hit on Australia’s most famous court (Darwin’s formerly tilted court is a close second).
Throughout the camp, some lucky Super 10’s participants are selected to do the coin toss to commence matches, the NT’s Darius found himself between his 2 favourite players in the world when he was doing the coin-toss for Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz – well done Darius for a perfectly executed toss! Cool and calm while star-struck and beaming live into millions of homes around the world!
The Super 10s trip wrapped up on a high note for the NT kids, leaving them with unforgettable experiences and valuable lessons. Highlights included exclusive sessions with Pat Rafter, who shared his expertise on mastering the volley, and Lleyton Hewitt, who instilled the grit and intensity of the “Hewitt grind”. They had the incredible opportunity to watch Alexander Zverev, Nick Kyrgios, and Emma Raducanu train up close, gaining insight into the dedication of top-tier professionals. Adding to the excitement, they collected autographs from numerous players, making the trip even more special.
Within the competition, the boys competed fiercely, demonstrating resilience and determination. Now, after a well-deserved short break, Thye’ll return to training with renewed motivation, fuelled by the inspiration this experience has given them. It’s a journey that will stay with them, shaping their dreams and pushing them to new heights.
