National Indigenous Tennis Carnival

The pinnacle event of the Indigenous tennis pathway – to celebrate indigenous cultures through tennis both on and off the court

The National Indigenous Tennis Carnival  is known as the “NITC”.

It is an annual event running from Thursday 10th of August, through to Sunday 13th August 2023 at the Darwin International Tennis Centre.

The NITC is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through tennis, cultural activities, workshops. Hundreds of kids from all around Australia participate each year.

Tennis at every level is played over 4 days. State and territory teams compete for the coveted Ash Barty Cup, individuals play off against the best-of-the-best in the Challenger stream, and one person will be hand-picked by Evonne Goolagong Cawley to receive the Evonne Goolagong Cawley Medal of Excellence.

The NITC was created in collaboration between the Evonne Goolagong Foundation, Tennis Australia, and Tennis NT.
