Project Management

Project Management describes all activities from the decision to proceed with the development or upgrade of a facility, right through to the completion of construction and final payment/s.  It includes (but is not limited to):

  • the establishment of a project brief with the client,
  • site investigation works,
  • design development,
  • preparation of tender documentation (including specifications, drawings, tender schedules),
  • contractor selection and calling of tenders or quotes,
  • evaluation of tenders or quotes,
  • supervision of construction works (including inspections at key construction milestones, progress payment inspections and at completion of the works prior final payment and handover).

Project Management of a complete tennis complex is a specialised role that generally requires the engagement of a professional project manager with a substantial understanding of all the aspects of tennis court design, construction and maintenance.

A basic understanding of these fundamental concepts can be obtained by reading Tennis Queensland’s Technical Manual, however simply reading this manual will not necessarily provide the required expertise to manage a project of this nature.
