The Final Word"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2015\/01\/Hopman-Final-2015.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-9753\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2015\/01\/Hopman-Final-2015-317x306.jpg\" alt=\"Hopman Final 2015\" width=\"317\" height=\"306\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Poland\u2019s Agnieszka Radwanska<\/strong> and <strong>Jerzy Janowicz <\/strong>have claimed their first Hopman Cup title on Sunday defeating <strong>Serena Williams<\/strong> and <strong>John Isner<\/strong> of the <strong>United States<\/strong> <strong>2-1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More than <strong>95,742<\/strong> fans visited <strong>Perth Arena<\/strong> for the <strong>27th annual<\/strong> <strong>staging of the event<\/strong> which featured <strong>nine top 20 players<\/strong>, including <strong>four top ten players<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After seven days of world-class tennis in Perth, Western Australia, this is the final word.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>On-court action<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>World No.5 <strong>Agnieszka Radwanska<\/strong> and world No.43 <strong>Jerzy Janowicz<\/strong> defeated world No.1 <strong>Serena Williams<\/strong> and world No.18 <strong>John Isner<\/strong> to win Poland\u2019s first Hopman Cup crown.\u00a0 Poland finished runners-up in 2014 in their debut year at the event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In 2015<strong> 13 ties, 39 matches <\/strong>and<strong> 87 sets <\/strong>were played during 4 to 10 January.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Eight<\/strong> countries were represented including <strong>Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Great Britain, Italy, Poland <\/strong>and the<strong> United States<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nine current top 20 players <\/strong>competed in the event:<strong> Andy Murray,<\/strong> <strong>John Isner, Fabio Fognini, Serena Williams, Agnieszka Radwanska, Eugenie Bouchard, Lucie Safarova, Flavia Pennetta<\/strong>, <strong>Alize Cornet<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Four <\/strong>current <strong>top ten <\/strong>players: <strong>Serena Williams, Agnieszka Radwanska, Eugenie Bouchard <\/strong>and <strong>Andy Murray.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>There were <strong>two Grand Slam singles champions<\/strong> with a collective <strong>20 Grand Slam titles<\/strong>: <strong>Serena Williams <\/strong>[18] and <strong>Andy Murray<\/strong> [2].<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Four<\/strong> Grand Slam singles finalists: <strong>Agnieszka Radwanska, Andy Murray, Serena Williams <\/strong>and<strong> Eugenie Bouchard.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nine<\/strong> returning players: <strong>Andy Murray<\/strong> 2011, 2010; <strong>John Isner<\/strong>, 2011, <strong>Alize Cornet<\/strong> 2014.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jerzy Janowicz <\/strong>(POL) clocked the fastest men\u2019s serve of the tournament at <strong>232 km\/h<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Serena Williams <\/strong>(USA) recorded the fastest women\u2019s serve at <strong>200 km\/h<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Off-court action<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The world\u2019s best have had the chance to see parts of Perth, Western Australia over the last week:<\/li>\n<li><strong>Serena Williams<\/strong> met Sunshine, Perth\u2019s famous koala in <strong>Kings Park<\/strong>, <strong>Eugenie Bouchard<\/strong> took in the view at <strong>Mends St Jetty<\/strong> in South Perth and was seen surfing at <strong>Trigg Beach <\/strong>while <strong>Alize Cornet<\/strong> and <strong>Benoit Paire<\/strong> swam at <strong>Cottesloe Beach<\/strong>. <strong>Fabio Fognini<\/strong> and <strong>Flavia Pennetta<\/strong> of Team Italy visited <strong>Rottnest Island<\/strong> and <strong>Lucie Safarova<\/strong> and <strong>Adam Pavlasek<\/strong> of <strong>Team Czech<\/strong> enjoyed a feast of Western Australia seafood at Kailis Bros.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Attendance<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>95,742<\/strong> attended Hopman Cup 2015, the second largest attendance in the event\u2019s history.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Each session in 2015 saw <strong>two team supporter bays<\/strong> where supporters purchased seats with other fellow country supporters to cheer on their favourite team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>50,000 country hand waver flags<\/strong> were handed out during Hopman Cup 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Famous faces in the crowd included tennis legends <strong>Margaret Court<\/strong> and <strong>Neale Fraser<\/strong>, Australian Fed Cup captain <strong>Alicia Molik<\/strong>, Olympic swimmer <strong>Eamon Sullivan<\/strong>, 2014 Brownlow medallist <strong>Matt Priddis<\/strong> and captain of West Coast Eagles <strong>Shannon Hurn<\/strong>, Australian cricketer <strong>Mitchell Marsh<\/strong>, Fremantle Docker\u2019s <strong>Matt Pavlich, Nat Fyfe<\/strong>, <strong>Lee Spur<\/strong> and <strong>Jack Hannath<\/strong>, The Bachelor <strong>Blake Garvey<\/strong> and his partner <strong>Louise Pillidge<\/strong>, <strong>Chloe James<\/strong>, My Kitchen Rules, <strong>Carole <\/strong>and<strong> Russell Bramston<\/strong>, House Rules, <strong>Sally Yamamoto and Tyson Smith<\/strong>, Amazing Race and <strong>Annaleis Martin<\/strong>, The Big Adventure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>This year\u2019s <strong>Hopman Cup Ball<\/strong> saw special guest <strong>Guy Sebastian<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong><strong><em>Broadcast and media<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More than <strong>70 print, radio and broadcast media<\/strong> provided extensive media coverage of the event to media outlets around Australia and worldwide.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Hopman Cup 2015 was broadcast to more than <strong>170 countries<\/strong> by over <strong>20 different broadcast partners<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In Europe, broadcasters included <strong>Polsat<\/strong> in Poland, <strong>Digi Sport<\/strong> in the Czech Republic, <strong>Ma Chaine Sport<\/strong> in French speaking countries, <strong>British Eurosport<\/strong> in the UK and <strong>Super Tennis<\/strong> in Italy, <strong>Roger Sportsnet<\/strong> covered it in Canada, <strong>NTV Plus<\/strong> in Russia and the <strong>CIS<\/strong>, <strong>Dubai Sports Channel<\/strong> and <strong>SuperSport<\/strong> in the Middle East and Africa respectively. <strong>TyC Sports<\/strong> in Latin America are among the list of other broadcast partners. In South East Asia, coverage was provided by <strong>Fox Sports<\/strong>, whilst in India and the sub-continent was <strong>Sony Six<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Digital and social media<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As of 9 January <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/hopmancup\"><strong>@hopmancup<\/strong><\/a> on Twitter grew by more than <strong>25 per cent<\/strong>, generating <strong>3 million impressions<\/strong> during the event period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hopman Cup \u2013 Australian Open Series Facebook<\/strong> page grew by <strong>40 per cent<\/strong> and featured on-court action, colour and exclusive behind the scenes content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/perthtennis\"><strong>Hopman Cup YouTube<\/strong><\/a> channel generated hundreds of thousands of views with a clip of Serena Williams ordering a coffee going viral, with over <strong>793,408 views<\/strong> alone as of 10 January.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>A total of<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>1128 Wilson tennis balls<\/strong> were used throughout the Hopman Cup while <strong>163<\/strong> racquets were restrung for players.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>1760<\/strong> towels including <strong>510<\/strong> personalised embroided player towels were used during the event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>66<\/strong> ballkids aged 12-15 made up the Hopman Cup 2015 squad.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Matches were officiated by <strong>32<\/strong> linespeople, <strong>four <\/strong>chair umpires and <strong>one<\/strong> referee from around Australia and the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Players were transported by a fleet of <strong>25 Volkswagen cars <\/strong>during the event, with <strong>32 volunteer drivers<\/strong> completing <strong>774 trips <\/strong>between<strong> 5:15 am <\/strong>and<strong> midnight<\/strong> each day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Fans enjoyed <strong>9510<\/strong> ice creams, <strong>6768<\/strong> sandwiches and <strong>4600 <\/strong>Mount Franklin bottles of water while watching the tennis at Perth Arena.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Community tennis<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>SpongeBob SquarePants<\/strong> and <strong>Squidward, <\/strong>along with their<strong> Nick Jr. <\/strong>friends<strong> Dora the Explorer <\/strong>and<strong> Diego <\/strong>headlined<strong> Hopman Cup Kids Tennis Day presented by Nickelodeon<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Young budding tennis players from <strong>Kununurra Tennis Club<\/strong> in the Kimberley region, Western Australia had the chance to meet Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Heather Watson<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>World No.6<strong> Andy Murray<\/strong> played <strong>Tennis Hot Shots<\/strong> with youngsters from <strong>Bayswater Tennis Club <\/strong>on Perth Arena\u2019s practice court.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Volkswagen Speed Challenge<\/strong> saw the fan\u2019s fastest serve at <strong>162 km\/h<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hopman Cup 2015 is the official mixed team competition of the ITF and is proudly supported locally by the State Government, through Tourism WA.
