\"Dellacqua\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Australian favourite Casey Dellacqua<\/strong> will return to Tasmania to star at the Hobart International <\/strong>in 2015\u00a0from 11-17 January at the Domain Tennis Centre.<\/p>\n

Dellacqua has just completed a career best season making her debut in the world\u2019s top 30. The left-hander started 2014 at world No.142 before her rapid rise up the ranks to reach a career high of No.26 in September.<\/p>\n

Throughout the season\u00a0she has posted wins over higher-ranked opponents such as compatriot Sam Stosur <\/strong>as well as Sabine Lisicki, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Kirsten Flipkens<\/strong> and Roberta Vinci<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The West Australian has capped off a stellar year after being named a finalist for the\u00a0Newcombe Medal<\/strong>, Australian tennis\u2019 highest honour presented to the most outstanding player of the season, and WTA\u2019s Most Improved Player.<\/p>\n

Dellacqua couldn\u2019t be happier to have chosen Hobart to finalise her preparations before the first Grand Slam of the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cHobart is the perfect way to ensure I\u2019m match ready for the Australian Open,\u201d said Dellacqua, who was in Hobart today to help officially launch the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always enjoy playing in Hobart and love playing for the local crowds. The Domain Tennis Centre is a beautiful place to compete, overlooking the Derwent River.<\/p>\n

\u201cMark and his team put on a great event each year and make the playing group feel very welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n

Premier of Tasmania, Will Hodgman<\/strong>, is looking forward to welcoming Dellacqua back to Tasmania this summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo draw the likes of Australian tennis star Casey Dellacqua to the Hobart International is a testament to the event, the organisers and our state,\u201d Hodgman said.<\/p>\n

Tournament Director and Executive Director of Tennis Tasmania, Mark Handley<\/strong>, is also thrilled to have one of Australia\u2019s elite confirmed for next year\u2019s event.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs one of Australia\u2019s top female players, the Tasmanian sporting community know Casey well and look forward to supporting her on court when she returns to play here in January.<\/p>\n

In her 13th\u00a0season on the WTA Tour 29-year-old Dellacqua made fourth round appearances at both\u00a0her home slam at the Australian Open and at the US Open<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

She posted her best ever WTA result reaching the semifinals at the Premier-level tournament in Birmingham, quarterfinal appearances at Indian Wells and Tokyo whilst also representing Australia in Fed Cup against Russia in Hobart and her first Fed Cup semifinal against Germany.<\/p>\n

Dellacqua will be looking to win her debut WTA singles title in 2015. She currently holds three WTA doubles titles, a French Open mixed doubles title, 22 ITF pro circuit singles titles and 23 ITF pro circuit doubles titles.<\/p>\n

On Saturday 10 January SpongeBob SquarePants <\/strong>and Squidward<\/strong>, along with their Nick Jr. friends Dora the Explorer <\/strong>and Diego <\/strong>will headline Hobart International Kids Tennis Day<\/strong> presented by Nickelodeon<\/strong>. Entry is free.<\/p>\n

Hobart International is part of the Emirates Australian Open Series<\/strong>, which also incorporates Hopman Cup (Perth), Brisbane International presented by Suncorp, Apia International Sydney and World Tennis Challenge (Adelaide).<\/p>\n
