{"id":9549,"date":"2014-10-30T09:15:42","date_gmt":"2014-10-30T01:15:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=9549"},"modified":"2014-10-30T09:15:42","modified_gmt":"2014-10-30T01:15:42","slug":"aussie-trio-into-margaret-river-quarters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2014\/10\/30\/aussie-trio-into-margaret-river-quarters","title":{"rendered":"Aussie Trio into Margaret River Quarters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9550\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2014\/10\/Maddison-Inglis-700x450.jpg\" alt=\"Maddison-Inglis-700x450\" width=\"410\" height=\"264\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Aussie trio into Margaret River quarters \u2013 30 October, 2014 &#8211; All News &#8211; News and Features &#8211; News and Events &#8211; Tennis Australia<!-- [if (gt IE 8) | (IEMobile)]&gt;&gt;--> &lt;!&#8211; <!-- [if (lt IE 9) &amp; (!IEMobile)]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\/\/ \/\/ <\/p>\n<div id=\"page-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"main\">\n<div class=\"main__content\">\n<div class=\"two-column\">\n<div class=\"two-column__main\">\n<div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>Local wildcard Maddison Inglis as well as fellow Aussies Alison Bai and Isabella Holland have progressed\u00a0the quarterfinals at the 2014 Margaret River Tennis International on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Buoyed by her upset win over fourth seed Rika Fujiwara on Tuesday, 16-year-old Inglis carried on exactly where she left off, cruising past another Japanese opponent \u2013 this time in the form of Micheka Ozeki \u2013 6-4 6-1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like I\u2019m playing well,\u201d said Inglis. \u201cNot making too many errors and just going for my shots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy win yesterday has given me a lot more confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Inglis said her initial goal this week had been to make the quarterfinals, a task she now can check off and look even further beyond.<\/p>\n<p>But if her outstanding form continues, Inglis may need to make some adjustments to her playing schedule, as she is booked to board a flight to Korea on Thursday night where she is due to play some ITF Junior events.<\/p>\n<p>Standing in her way in the quarterfinals is 22-year-old Queenslander Holland, who defeated the eighth seed from Kazakhstan, Kamila Kerimbayeva, in straight sets on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Inglis and Holland have never previously met.<\/p>\n<p>Also through to the quarterfinals in Margaret River is ACT girl Alison Bai, who overcame Varatchaya Wongteanchai in a seesawing affair, 6-2 1-6 6-3.<\/p>\n<p>The 24-year-old has recently reached the quarterfinals in both Cairns and Toowomba and is clearly showing some strong form.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully I can do one better here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve had a lot of tennis coming into these events. I feel well-prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bai will next\u00a0face\u00a0third seed Risa Ozaki, her first meeting against the Japanese player.<\/p>\n<p>Not so lucky on Wednesday were Australian wildcards Abbie Myers and Lizette Cabrera, who both had their opportunities against highly seeded opponents.<\/p>\n<p>Myers came back from a set down against Ozaki before losing the decider 7-5, while Cabrera took the opening set against second seed Alize Lim, but was unable to hold off the fast-finishing French girl.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, local favourite Jessica Moore found herself on the wrong end of the ledger top seed and last week\u2019s Perth champion Rebecca Peterson.<\/p>\n<p>Despite flying out of the blocks and taking a solid early lead, Moore found herself reigned back in and eventually overrun by the in-form Swede, losing 7-5 6-1.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aussie trio into Margaret River quarters \u2013 30 October, 2014 &#8211; All News &#8211; News and Features &#8211; News and Events &#8211; Tennis Australia &lt;!&#8211; \/\/ \/\/ Local wildcard Maddison Inglis as well as fellow Aussies Alison Bai and Isabella Holland have progressed\u00a0the quarterfinals at the 2014 Margaret River Tennis International on Wednesday.
