{"id":9484,"date":"2014-10-13T09:56:35","date_gmt":"2014-10-13T01:56:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=9484"},"modified":"2014-10-13T09:56:35","modified_gmt":"2014-10-13T01:56:35","slug":"impressive-field-to-visit-perth-tennis-international","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2014\/10\/13\/impressive-field-to-visit-perth-tennis-international","title":{"rendered":"Impressive Field to Visit Perth Tennis International"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9485\" alt=\"Pro-Tour\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2014\/10\/Pro-Tour1.jpg\" width=\"410\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>World number 171,<b> Hiroko Kuwata (JPN) <\/b>will headline the field at the <b>Perth Tennis International<\/b> at the <b>State Tennis Centre <\/b>from <b>19-26 October, 2014<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Local tennis fans will have the opportunity to attend the free event and watch the likes of <b>Kuwata <\/b>and <b>Alize Lim (FRA) <\/b>along with a crop of up-and-coming tennis stars from around Australia and the world to compete for <b>$25,000 <\/b>in prize money and valuable world ranking points.<\/p>\n<p><b>Kuwata<\/b> will face strong competition from international competitors including <b>Dia Evtimova (BUL), Chieh-Yu Hsu (TPE)<\/b> and <b>Rebecca Peterson (SWE<\/b>)<b>, <\/b>as well as home-grown crowd favourite<b>, Jessica Moore (Williams, WA) <\/b>who is making a solid comeback to the circuit after almost 12 months absence.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Moore will be joined by top Australian female talent including number 9 ranked Australian <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Monique<\/b><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Adamczak (NSW<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">), <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Isabella Holland (QLD<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">) and Commonwealth Games gold medallist <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Sally Peers (VIC) <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">who will all battle it out in the qualifying rounds of the tournament.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Local WA girls <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Karis Ryan, Maddison Inglis, Tiewa Casey, Marisa Gianotti, Maria Knott, Anja Dokic, Meg Connell, Sara Stikic, Olivia Rimmer <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">and <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Jasmine Corswell<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\"> will also be vying for spots in the main draw event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to see such a strong field for the <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Perth Tennis International<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">. These events provide a chance for Australian Players to play top quality professional tennis, and allow the local community to get close to the action free of charge\u201d Tournament Director, <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Loretta Hughes <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hughes also praised the Department of Sport &amp; Recreation for their ongoing support and encouraged the community to get behind the future of Australian tennis at the event.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">\u201cFollowing last year\u2019s success, we hope the local community can once again head down to watch our country\u2019s up and coming tennis stars take their next step onto the global tennis stage at this free community event,\u201d<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\"> <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Hughes said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">From 21-23 October, the tournament will host Community Activations and tennis programs with local primary schools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">As well as watching top quality tennis, kids will be able to try ANZ Tennis Hot Shots, watch a Cardio Tennis demonstration or have a go at the Speed Serve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Qualifying will begin on <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Sunday 19 October<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\"> and the main draw on <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Tuesday 21 October<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\"> with play commencing at <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">10am<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\"> each day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">The <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Perth Tennis International<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\"> is part of the Australian Pro Tour, a series of professional tennis events that bridge junior events and the ATP\/WTA Tour, providing an opportunity for players to earn their first world ranking points and compete against top 200 world ranked players.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">For more information about the Australian Pro Tour, Tennis Australia or the players visit <\/span><strong><a style=\"line-height: 1.5em\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/protour\" target=\"_blank\">www.tennis.com.au\/protour<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">.
