{"id":9325,"date":"2014-09-11T10:49:58","date_gmt":"2014-09-11T02:49:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=9325"},"modified":"2014-09-11T10:49:58","modified_gmt":"2014-09-11T02:49:58","slug":"eugenie-bouchard-returns-to-hopman-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2014\/09\/11\/eugenie-bouchard-returns-to-hopman-cup","title":{"rendered":"Eugenie Bouchard returns to Hopman Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9328\" alt=\"460056923-570x457\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2014\/09\/460056923-570x457.jpg\" width=\"410\" height=\"329\" \/><\/p>\n<p>World No.7 <strong>Eugenie Bouchard<\/strong> will return to Perth in 2015 to play <strong>Hopman Cup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The 20-year-old has risen up the world rankings by 25 spots since starting the year in Western<br \/>\nAustralia and now sits inside the women\u2019s top 10.<\/p>\n<p>Joining Bouchard will be rising star and world No.43 <strong>Vasek Pospisil<\/strong> for Team Canada when the<br \/>\ncountry makes its third appearance at the event.<\/p>\n<p>Bouchard has enjoyed a breakout 2014 since debuting at the Hopman Cup in January. She reached<br \/>\nthe semifinals of both the Australian Open and French Open and made her first Grand Slam final<br \/>\nappearance atWimbledon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have greatmemories of the event,\u201d Bouchard said of her Hopman Cup experience this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a great time and I think it\u2019s a great event to kind of transition from the off season to<br \/>\ncompetitive playing. Of course it\u2019s competitive and it\u2019s intense and it\u2019s a real tournament. But it also<br \/>\nkind of has a relaxed feel which I really enjoyed\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While in Perth, Bouchard was seen out and about exploring the city, including a visit to the iconic<br \/>\nCottesloe Beach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went to the beach\u2026 and had a crazy photo shoot on the beach in Australia which was quite<br \/>\ninteresting. I also went to awildlife park and Iwas able to pat koalas and I could have held a wombat<br \/>\nbut I was too scared to.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerth is a very nice city and the people are so nice and friendly, it\u2019s just very relaxing.\u201d<br \/>\nBouchard is also hoping to see her Genie Army fans in Perth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Genie Army started in Melbourne of course and they\u2019ve created this world-wide phenomenon<br \/>\nwhere all these cities create their own mini Genie Army franchises and sing some songs and throw<br \/>\nstuffed animals just like the original Australian Genie Army,\u201d Bouchard added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to thank them, I have to thank you crazy Australians because you guys started this all. So I<br \/>\nlook forward to seeing them hopefully in Perth as well and of course in Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pospisil, 24, who like Australia\u2019s <strong>Nick Kyrgios<\/strong>, will make his debut at the Hopman Cup in January.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to play Hopman Cup for the first time in my career. I have heard great things about the<br \/>\nevent and I look forward to starting the 2015 season in Perth,\u201d Pospisil said.<\/p>\n<p>The right-hander recently won his firstWimbledon doubles crown in July and helped Canada reach<br \/>\nthe Davis CupWorld Group semifinal for the first time last year.<\/p>\n<p>In a first for the event, <strong>Paul Kilderry, Hopman Cup Tournament Director,<\/strong> has released the event\u2019s<br \/>\nschedulewell in advance and has introduced a new$10 children\u2019s ticket category across all sessions,<br \/>\nincluding the final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Czech Republic, Italy, Poland,USA<\/strong> and <strong>France<\/strong> are set to join <strong>Australia, Great Britain<\/strong> and <strong>Canada<\/strong><br \/>\nat Hopman Cup 2015.
