\nRegional Talent Development Athletes in Brisbane<\/p>\n

Tennis West, in partnership with the Department of Sport and Recreation, travelled to Queensland with 8 regional athletes from across Western Australia (WA) for an 11 day tour, 29th June \u2013 9th July 2014. All athletes competed in two Australian Ranking Tournaments; 2014 Solinco Series \u2013 Queensland Junior Claycourt Championships & 2014 Rod Laver Lead In presented by Tennis & Gear Online.<\/p>\n

The Regional Talent Development (RTD) Program is a scholarship in which regional athletes are able to apply for, if they meet a set criteria. Four of the eight successful athletes received a full scholarship which included funding to support their tennis development (equipment, coaching, travel, tournament fees etc) as well as a subsidised tour interstate. Full scholarship holders were; Michael Frayne (Bunbury), Madelaine Muller-Hughes (Australind), Kayla Myburgh (Bunbury) and Kenneth Prete (Bunbury). A further four athletes were invited to Queensland who just missed out on the full scholarship. These athletes were; Jarrod Capararo (Albany), Mitchell Fraser (Busselton), Joshua Tait (Bunbury) and Colten Way (Esperance). Team Managers were Paul Oldfield and Brooke Koenig from Tennis West.<\/p>\n

All athletes, ranging from 12 to 16 years of age, played in both singles and doubles in their relevant age range.<\/p>\n
