{"id":8107,"date":"2013-12-17T16:20:15","date_gmt":"2013-12-17T08:20:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=8107"},"modified":"2013-12-17T16:20:15","modified_gmt":"2013-12-17T08:20:15","slug":"alicia-molik-launches-an-australian-made-summer-of-tennis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2013\/12\/17\/alicia-molik-launches-an-australian-made-summer-of-tennis","title":{"rendered":"Alicia Molik launches an Australian Made Summer of Tennis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2013\/12\/Alicia-Molik.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8109\" alt=\"Alicia Molik\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2013\/12\/Alicia-Molik-410x273.jpg\" width=\"410\" height=\"273\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tennis champion <strong>Alicia Molik<\/strong> is serving up an <strong>Australian Made Summer of Tennis<\/strong>, as the face of a campaign that celebrates sporting achievements while highlighting the importance of buying <strong>Australian<\/strong> products and produce.<\/p>\n<p>Events that feature as part of the campaign include the <strong>Australian Made Foundation Cup<\/strong> \u2013 the only national tennis tournament for junior players from rural and regional <strong>Australia<\/strong> \u2013 and the <strong>Breakfast with the Stars<\/strong> events in <strong>Sydney<\/strong> and <strong>Melbourne<\/strong>, which promote the achievements of women in tennis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Fed Cup Foundation<\/strong> coordinates the events, which are sponsored by the not-for-profit<strong> Australian Made<\/strong> Campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Australian Made Campaign is all about ensuring a better future for Australians.\u00a0 We are proud to support the children of regional and rural Australia, and to celebrate the achievements of women in tennis,\u201d <strong>Australian Made Chief Executive, Ian Harrison<\/strong>, said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alicia Molik<\/strong> said that she was delighted to be the ambassador for the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese events give regional and rural kids the opportunity to participate at the highest level, and encourage greater participation by women \u2013 I\u2019m proud to be a part of that,\u201d <strong>Ms Molik<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPart of my role involves educating families about the importance of buying local. It\u2019s something I\u2019m passionate about, because I believe we should teach our kids where products come from, and feed them fresh Australian-grown produce so they grow up healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Australian Made<\/strong> and the Fed Cup Foundation will award the most outstanding male and female player, based on performance and sportsmanship, $1,000 each to assist with their tennis development.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRural Australia has produced some of the biggest names in our sport. I am confident that Australian tennis champions of the future will have competed for their state in the Australian Made Foundation Cup.
