{"id":8056,"date":"2013-12-10T09:35:50","date_gmt":"2013-12-10T01:35:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=8056"},"modified":"2013-12-10T09:35:50","modified_gmt":"2013-12-10T01:35:50","slug":"inglis-overcomes-hives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2013\/12\/10\/inglis-overcomes-hives","title":{"rendered":"Inglis overcomes Hives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2013\/12\/10\/inglis-overcomes-hives\/attachment\/maddison-inglis-6\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8058\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8058\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2013\/12\/Maddison-Inglis-410x285.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"285\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maddison Inglis has been crowned girls\u00a018s Australian National Champion at Melbourne Park on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>In the battle between the fifth and eighth seeds, it was Inglis who trumped Hives to secure her first Australian Nationals title.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m feeling shocked and [I\u2019m] still shaking,\u201d said an almost disbelieving Inglis after the match.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t think I\u2019d get this far, let alone win it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both players broke the other early, but it was eighth seed Hives who strung together four games in a row and looked to be in control.<\/p>\n<p>Despite feeling nervous, Inglis wrested the opening set back from the Victorian, taking it in a tiebreak.<\/p>\n<p>The second set began with three consecutive breaks as both players fought for momentum. But again it was Inglis who held, her backhand proving to be a significant weapon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe definitely deserves it, she\u2019s been in the mix for a couple of years now but she really deserves it, so credit to her,\u201d said her coach, Andrew Roberts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think she\u2019s gotten better match by match, both physically and emotionally she\u2019s been improving as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Inglis will now prepare for her next challenge, the Australian Open 2014 Play-off.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 Maddison Inglis has been crowned girls\u00a018s Australian National Champion at Melbourne Park on Saturday.
