A week later, the same teams used different line-ups allowing<strong> Troy Hargreaves<\/strong> to claim a singles rubber against <strong>Indian Fariz Mohammed<\/strong> in 3 sets. The winning result of 4-9-42 to 2-4-32 qualifies them for the <strong>ATL<\/strong> Play-offs at Melbourne Park on January 20 and 21.<\/p>\n<p>After the first two rubbers,<strong> Andrew Roberts<\/strong> had beaten <strong>Brad Dyer<\/strong> 4-3, 4-0, and <strong>Fariz<\/strong> had lost to <strong>Hargreaves<\/strong>, leaving the <strong>Wizards<\/strong> ahead by one set only.\u00a0 A power match between <strong>Adam Carey<\/strong> and <strong>Miles Armstrong<\/strong> saw the <strong>Wizards<\/strong> gain another rubber 4-2, 4-3. <strong>Zach Itzstein<\/strong> overcame <strong>Grant Silcock<\/strong> for the same scoreline and the <strong>Wizards<\/strong> were in a winning position. This allowed youngster <strong>Jack Lyttle<\/strong> the chance to play doubles with <strong>Brenton<\/strong> <strong>Bacon<\/strong> and become more familiar with the fast format, losing 4-2, 4-1 to the experienced <strong>Dyer,\/Armstrong<\/strong> pair. The last doubles went to <strong>Mohammed<\/strong> and <strong>Fariz<\/strong> 4-1, 4-0 against <strong>Hargreaves<\/strong> and <strong>Silcock<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Wizards<\/strong> will meet four other <strong>Conference Champions<\/strong> and teams from each of <strong>Japan<\/strong>, <strong>Korea<\/strong> and <strong>Oceania<\/strong> during the <strong>Australian Open<\/strong> in <strong>Melbourne<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Cheetahs<\/strong>, who beat the <strong>Wizards<\/strong> in round 2, won the third-versus-fourth playoff 3-8-45 to 3-7-40 over <strong>Higgins<\/strong> <strong>Magic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Asia-Pacific tennis league<\/strong> brings <strong>$350,000 in total prize money <\/strong>to players and clubs in <strong>Australia<\/strong>, with the conferences earning $100,000, plus <strong>$140,000 in player payments<\/strong>. During the play-offs, teams will vie for a share of $110,000.
